A private browser is designed to reduce selected forms of data storage or tracking. Anonymous browsing has a stronger goal: making online activity difficult to connect to a real person or stable identity. The terms overlap in marketing, but neither should be treated as a guarantee without checking the actual controls.

Private or incognito tabs normally avoid keeping some history, cookies and form data after the session closes. That is valuable on a shared device, but it is not anonymity. What Makes a Browser Privacy-Focused?
A privacy-focused browser may include tracker blocking, third-party cookie controls, fingerprinting defenses, permission controls, HTTPS preferences and data-minimizing account design. These features address different parts of browser privacy.
Look for specific, testable explanations rather than a single “private” label:
What does the browser store locally?
Which requests or trackers does it block?
Does it reduce fingerprinting signals?
Does it require personal information for an account?
Does it route traffic to hide the source IP?
What does its privacy policy say about product analytics?
What Anonymous Browsing Actually Requires
Anonymity is about linkability. Hiding a name is not enough if an IP address, login, device fingerprint or repeated behavior can connect sessions. Systems such as Tor route traffic through multiple relays and are designed around a substantially different network threat model from ordinary private tabs.
Even then, anonymity depends on behavior. Signing in to a personal account, sharing identifying details or downloading and opening content outside the protected environment can reconnect activity to you.
Can a Browser Be Both Private and Anonymous?
It can provide features that support both goals, but “anonymous” is not a binary product property. Ask what is hidden, from whom, and under which conditions. A browser may reduce tracker exposure and avoid requiring an email address while still allowing websites to receive the connection’s public IP address.

Quetta’s Approach
Quetta combines built-in Privacy Guard controls with an account model that does not require email for ordinary browsing. Optional sync uses Quetta Pass, a randomly generated number or QR code. This reduces the identity information needed for access, while tracker, cookie and fingerprinting controls address browser-level exposure.
