1. Check whether the network is slow

Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data for one short test. If pages become normal on the other connection, focus on the router, ISP, DNS provider, VPN, or local network rather than deleting all browser data.

Avoid treating a speed-test number as the whole answer. Latency, packet loss, congestion, and DNS lookup time can make browsing feel slow even when headline download speed appears adequate.

2. Check whether only one website is slow

Open two unrelated, trusted sites. If they load normally, the original site may have a server problem, heavy scripts, large media, a regional issue, or a temporary deployment error. Clearing your entire browser cannot repair the site’s server.

Use a private tab to compare. If the page remains slow there, normal-session cookies and some extensions become less likely, although private-mode behavior differs by browser.

3. Close inactive tabs and background apps

  1. Keep a record of the original setting.
