Download videos more easily with Quetta Video Downloader for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. Use hover, right-click, or the extension panel to detect and save supported video resources.

Download videos with quetta video downloader

Quetta Video Downloader is a free browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge that lets you save videos from virtually any website: YouTube, Reddit, Vimeo, Dailymotion, news sites, streaming platforms, and more, in just a few clicks. This guide walks you through everything you need to know to start downloading.

Step 1: Pin Quetta to Your Toolbar

Before you start downloading, pin Quetta Video Downloader to your browser toolbar. This makes the extension easier to spot and faster to use every time you open a video page.

Once pinned, you can quickly tell when Quetta has detected a downloadable resource, and you can open the panel without searching through your extension list.

Keep Quetta in your toolbar so downloads are always one click away

Step 2: Three Ways to Download Videos With Quetta

Quetta gives users three different ways to download videos. That flexibility matters because not every site behaves the same way, and not every user prefers the same workflow.

1. Hover Over the Video

Move your mouse over the video area and look for the download icon. Click it to open the Quetta extension panel and start the download flow from there.

This is the fastest method for users who want a direct, visual action on the page.

Best for: quick downloads while watching a video
Why it helps: fewer clicks, easier discovery, more obvious entry point

If you do not like hover-triggered download buttons, you can turn this option off in settings.

2. Right-Click on the Page

You can also use the right-click menu to start the download flow. This is useful for users who prefer browser-native actions instead of hover controls.

Best for: users who prefer contextual browser actions
Why it helps: familiar workflow, easy to access from the page itself

3. Use the Extension Panel

The extension panel gives you the clearest view of what Quetta has detected.

When the extension icon changes from gray to red, it means Quetta has found a downloadable video resource on the current page.

Detection can take a little time. In many cases, the page needs to finish loading before the resource appears. If Quetta has not detected a downloadable resource yet, refresh the page and try again.

Once the resource appears in the panel, click Download to save it.

Best for: users who want to confirm detection before downloading
Why it helps: clearer status, better visibility, more control

Step 3: Play Your Downloaded Videos with Quetta Web Player

Once a video finishes downloading, you have two ways to watch it: Quetta’s built-in web player, or your computer’s default video player.

Two Ways to Open Quetta Web Player

Option 1: The Quetta Web Player tab
The Quetta panel always has a Web Player entry available, whether or not you’ve granted file access permission. However, without permission, videos won’t play, and thumbnails for your downloaded videos won’t display, you’ll just see a list without previews.

Option 2: The “Play” button after download
Right after a video finishes downloading, a Play button appears. Clicking it opens the video. If you’ve granted file access permission, it opens in Quetta Web Player; if not, it opens with your computer’s default player instead. Note that choosing your system player this way updates your default setting, so future downloads will open with the system player automatically. You can change this back anytime in Quetta’s settings.

Granting File Access Permission

To unlock Quetta’s built-in player (with thumbnails and playback inside the extension), you need to grant one Chrome permission: “Allow access to file URLs.”

To turn this on:

  1. From the prompt: Click “Go to settings” in the permission pop-up when it appears.

  2. From Chrome’s extension settings: Go tochrome://extensions, find Quetta Video Downloader, click Details, and toggle on “Allow access to file URLs.”

Once enabled, Quetta Web Player can read your downloaded video files directly, so you get thumbnails and one-click playback without leaving the browser.

Don't want to grant this permission? That's fine, your downloaded videos are saved locally either way. Just open them with your system player instead when you click Play.

How Quetta Video Detection Works

Quetta looks for supported downloadable video resources on the current page and surfaces them through the extension interface. Because websites load media in different ways, detection is not always instant. A full page load often helps Quetta identify the resource correctly.

That is why the panel is useful: it shows whether the resource has been detected yet, instead of making users guess.

If Quetta does not detect a video right away:

  1. Wait for the page to finish loading

  2. Open the Quetta panel and check the icon state

  3. Refresh the page if needed

  4. Try again once the video resource is fully available

Why Users Choose Quetta Instead of a Simpler One-Button Downloader

Many video download tools only work when the page structure is simple. Real browsing is messier than that. Users need more than one way to start a download, and they need a clearer signal when a downloadable resource is actually available.

Quetta helps by combining:

  • browser toolbar access

  • on-page hover actions

  • right-click actions

  • panel-based detection status

  • support across Chrome, Firefox, and Edge

That makes the experience more practical for real use, not just ideal demo pages.

Supported Browsers

Quetta Video Downloader is built for desktop users who want a consistent workflow across major browsers. Use Quetta Video Downloader Extension on:

This makes Quetta a strong fit for users who switch between work and personal browsers, or teams that do not all use the same browser.

Beyond the Extension: Quetta for Mobile

If you also want a video-focused experience on mobile, Quetta is more than a desktop extension.

Quetta also offers a mobile browser designed around video tools, privacy, and ad blocking. For users who move between desktop and phone, this creates a more connected video workflow across devices. Try the Quetta mobile browser for a more flexible video experience beyond desktop extensions.

What is Quetta Video Downloader?

Quetta Video Downloader is a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge that helps users detect and download supported video resources from websites more easily.

Can Quetta Video Downloader download YouTube videos?

Yes, but only on Firefox and Edge. Due to Chrome Web Store policy restrictions, YouTube downloads are not supported in the Chrome version of Quetta. If YouTube downloading is important to you, we recommend using Quetta on Firefox or Edge. There is currently no workaround for Chrome users.

Why is the Quetta icon gray and not turning red?

The page may still be loading, or the video resource may load later than the rest of the page content. Try scrolling through the page or pressing play on the video first, then check the icon again. If it’s still gray, refresh the page.

Can Quetta download livestreams?

Yes. Quetta supports live video content. Open the panel while the stream is active and click Download to begin capturing.

The video downloaded but the filename looks wrong. Why?

This happens on platforms like Twitter/X, Instagram, and Facebook, which don’t expose video titles to extensions. The video content is correct, only the filename is affected. You can rename the file after downloading.

Go to Quetta’s settings (click the icon → Settings) and toggle off the hover button option. Right-click and panel methods will continue to work normally.

Yes, the extension is free to install and use.
