Use Picture-in-Picture and Background Playback With Quetta

Learn how to enable picture-in-picture and background playback in Quetta on Android, iPhone and iPad, with setup steps and troubleshooting.

Quetta PIP and Background Play

Keep watching in a floating window or continue listening after you leave the app. Quetta gives you simple controls for picture-in-picture and background playback on Android, iPhone, and iPad. On iOS and iPadOS, these controls work across websites, including YouTube.

Choose the Right Quetta Playback Control

Picture-in-picture, often shortened to PIP, keeps a small video window visible while you use another app. Background playback keeps the audio playing when Quetta is no longer in the foreground. Choose PIP when you still want to see the video; choose background playback when you only need to listen.

Use Picture-in-Picture When You Want To

  • Follow a tutorial while completing the steps in another app.

  • Keep a video visible while replying to a message or checking another page.

  • Move or resize a floating player without returning to the full video page.

Use Background Playback When You Want To

  • Continue listening after switching to another app.

  • Listen to a talk, podcast, lesson, or music without keeping Quetta in the foreground.

  • Let supported audio continue automatically when you leave the app.

How to Enable Picture-in-Picture in Quetta

To use picture-in-picture in Quetta, first enable the video toolbar in Settings. The PIP button will then appear in the toolbar when you play a video.

  1. Open Quetta.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Open Video Options.

  4. Turn on Show Video Toolbar.

  5. Open a video and start playback.

  6. Tap the PIP button in the video toolbar.

The video will move into a floating picture-in-picture window. You can then open another app and keep the video visible.

If You Are Watching From Quetta Playlist

Videos opened from Quetta Playlist use the Quetta video player. The player displays controls such as PIP, Listen in Background, and Rotate below the video. Tap the control you want to use, no additional player setup is required.

How to Enable Background Playback in Quetta

Background playback can start automatically whenever you leave Quetta after enabling the setting once.

  1. Open Quetta.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Open Video Options.

  4. Turn on Listen in Background.

  5. Open a video and start playback.

  6. Leave Quetta or switch to another app.

When Listen in Background is enabled, the audio automatically continues in the background after you exit the app. Return to Quetta whenever you want to continue watching the video.

Picture-in-Picture and Background Playback on Android

Quetta does not require a special Android permission or a separate battery-setting change for its normal PIP and background-playback workflow. Enable the relevant option in Settings > Video Options, start the video, and use the video toolbar or leave the app.

If playback does not behave as expected on a particular device, first confirm that Quetta and the device operating system are up to date. Then repeat the setup steps and test another video to determine whether the behavior is limited to one page or player.

If you have not installed the browser yet, get Quetta for Android before following the steps above.

Picture-in-Picture and Background Playback on iPhone and iPad

Quetta provides picture-in-picture and background playback across websites on iOS and iPadOS, including YouTube. The feature is not limited to a short website allowlist: enable the appropriate Quetta video option and use the same controls across video websites.

Individual pages can still change their player code or fail to expose a playable video correctly. If one page does not work while other videos do, follow the troubleshooting steps below and send the page URL to Quetta if the problem continues.

You can get Quetta for iPhone and iPad and use the same Video Options workflow on your Apple device.

How Quetta Playlist Works With These Playback Controls

Quetta Playlist helps you collect videos from different websites and open them again from one place. When you play an item from Playlist, Quetta uses its own video player and places the available playback controls below the video.

You can tap:

  • PIP to open the video in a floating window.

  • Listen in Background to continue with audio while using another app.

  • Rotate to change the viewing orientation.

Playlist organizes the videos you want to revisit; PIP and background playback control how you watch or listen. They work together, but they are separate functions. You do not need to add every video to Playlist before using PIP or background playback on a webpage.

Troubleshoot PIP or Background Playback in Quetta

If PIP does not open or audio stops after you leave Quetta, use the following checks in order. Testing one change at a time makes it easier to identify whether the problem is the setting, the video, or the website.

1. Confirm the Quetta Setting

Open Settings > Video Options.

  • For PIP, confirm that Show Video Toolbar is enabled.

  • For background playback, confirm that Listen in Background is enabled.

2. Start the Video Before Using the Control

Make sure the video is already playing. Then tap PIP in the toolbar, or leave the app to test background playback.

3. Reload the Page

Reload the video page, start playback again, and repeat the action. This can restore the player when a page has not loaded its video controls correctly.

4. Test Another Video on the Same Website

Open another video from the same website. If the second video works, the issue is probably limited to the original page, video, or player state.

5. Test a Video From Another Website

Try a video on another website. This shows whether the behavior is specific to one website or affects playback more generally.

6. Test Through Quetta Playlist

If the video can be added to Quetta Playlist, open it there and test the PIP and Listen in Background controls in the Quetta video player.

7. Update and Restart Quetta

Install the latest available version of Quetta, close the app completely, and open it again. If needed, restart the device before repeating the test.

8. Check for Competing Playback

Pause audio or video playing in another app and try again. The operating system may allow another active media session to take over the playback controls.

When a Video Still Does Not Work

Quetta is designed to provide PIP and background playback across video websites, but a specific page can change its player, fail to expose the video correctly, or behave differently after a website update. A temporary page or media error can also prevent the expected control from working.

If a video still does not work after the checks above, send the website link to support@quetta.net so the Quetta team can investigate the cause.

Please include:

  • The full website or video URL.

  • Whether PIP, background playback, or both failed.

  • Your device model and operating system version.

  • Your Quetta version.

  • The steps you followed and what happened.

  • A screenshot or screen recording, if available.

You can send the website link to Quetta with the details above.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is picture-in-picture the same as background playback?

No. Picture-in-picture keeps the video visible in a floating window while you use another app. Background playback continues the audio without requiring the video to remain visible. Quetta provides separate settings and controls for the two playback modes.

How do I make the PIP button appear in Quetta?

Open Settings > Video Options and enable Show Video Toolbar. Start playing a video, then tap the PIP control in the toolbar to open the floating video window.

How do I keep audio playing after leaving Quetta?

Open Settings > Video Options and enable Listen in Background. After you start a video, the audio will automatically continue when you leave Quetta or switch to another app.

Does Quetta support PIP and background playback on YouTube?

Yes. Quetta provides PIP and background playback across websites on iOS and iPadOS, including YouTube. If a particular page does not work, reload it, test another video, and send the URL to Quetta support if the issue continues.

Does Android require a special permission or battery setting?

No special Android permission or battery-setting change is required for the normal Quetta workflow. Enable Show Video Toolbar or Listen in Background under Settings > Video Options, then start the video and use the relevant control.

Do I need to add a video to Playlist before using PIP?

No. You can use PIP or background playback directly on a video webpage. Playlist is useful when you want to organize videos and play them with Quetta’s own player controls in one place.

What should I do if only one website does not work?

Reload the page, test another video on the same website, test a different website, and update Quetta. If the issue remains limited to that website, send the affected URL, device details, and Quetta version to support@quetta.net.

Keep Watching or Listening With Quetta

Use picture-in-picture when you want the video to remain visible, or enable background playback when you only need the audio. Quetta keeps both controls close to the video, whether you are watching on a webpage or using the Quetta Playlist player.
