How to Download YouTube Videos on Windows

Download supported YouTube videos on Windows with Quetta Browser or the Quetta extension for Firefox and Edge. Compare both methods, choose a quality, find saved files, and fix detection issues.

Download Youtube Videos using windows

To download a supported YouTube video on Windows, open it in Quetta Browser and use its built-in YouTube downloader, powered by Quetta's integrated extension—no separate extension installation is required. If you use another Windows browser, install Quetta Video Downloader in Firefox or Microsoft Edge.

Quetta gives Windows users two clearly different routes. Quetta Browser for Windows already includes Quetta's own downloader extension as a built-in feature. Users who stay in another Windows browser must install the separate Quetta extension in Firefox or Microsoft Edge.

Important: Quetta Browser for Windows requires no separate downloader installation. In other Windows browsers, YouTube downloading requires the Quetta extension for Firefox or Edge. The Chrome extension does not currently support YouTube.

If you regularly watch and save permitted videos, the complete Windows browser keeps playback, detection, downloading, and file management in one experience. If Firefox or Edge is already central to your workflow, the extension avoids changing browsers.

Method 1: Use Quetta Browser for Windows

1. Install the official Windows version

Download Quetta Browser for Windows from Quetta’s official website. Its YouTube downloader is powered by Quetta's integrated extension and works without a separate add-on installation. Quetta for Windows may still be labeled as a beta, so keep it updated.

2. Open the permitted YouTube video

Open the publicly accessible video in Quetta. Most supported public videos can be detected, while private videos, paid content, DRM-protected media, age- or account-restricted pages, and videos that do not expose compatible media may not be available.

3. Start playback and wait for detection

Some pages do not load their video resources until playback begins. Start the video, let it play briefly, and wait for Quetta’s download control to become available.

4. Review the available choices

Open the download control and review the formats and resolutions detected from the source. Quetta can only show qualities that are actually available; it does not turn a low-resolution source into 1080p or 4K.

5. Download and locate the file

Choose the option you want and confirm the download. Open Quetta’s download list or Windows File Explorer to locate the saved file. The exact folder depends on the download location configured in your browser.

Method 2: Use Firefox or Edge on Windows

Use this route when you want to stay in your current desktop browser.

  1. Visit the official Quetta Video Downloader Extension page.

  2. Choose Firefox or Microsoft Edge.

  3. Install the extension from the browser’s official add-on store.

  4. Pin Quetta to the toolbar so its detection state remains visible.

  5. Open the permitted YouTube video and start playback if necessary.

  6. Open the Quetta panel when supported media is detected.

  7. Select an available video or audio option and download it.

Do not install a similarly named extension from an unofficial download site. Browser extensions can request access to webpage data, so the store listing, publisher, permissions, and update source matter.

Which quality should you choose?

Choose quality according to the screen, storage space, and intended use—not simply the largest number.

  • 720p: A practical choice for smaller screens, limited storage, or quick offline access.

  • 1080p: Better for laptops and larger displays when the source provides it.

  • 4K: Useful only when the original video and detected download option provide 4K. Files can be considerably larger.

  • Audio-only: Use Firefox or Edge when a supported audio stream is available and you do not need the picture.

Not every detected option includes the same combination of video and audio. If a completed file has no sound, return to the available choices and select an option that includes audio, when one is provided.

Where are YouTube downloads saved on Windows?

Quetta uses the download location configured for the browser or extension. Common places include the Windows Downloads folder or a folder you selected when prompted.

If you cannot find a completed download:

  1. Open the browser’s download history.

  2. Find the downloaded item.

  3. Choose Show in folder or the equivalent command.

  4. Confirm the filename and file extension.

  5. Move the file into a clearly named folder if you plan to keep it.

Some websites do not expose a useful media title. In that case, the filename may appear generic even though the correct file was downloaded. Test playback before renaming it.

If Quetta does not detect the video

Try these checks in order:

  1. Confirm that you are using Quetta Browser, Firefox, or Edge—not the Chrome extension for YouTube.

  2. Reload the page and start playback.

  3. Reopen the extension panel after the video begins.

  4. Confirm that the extension is enabled and has permission to run on the page.

  5. Update Quetta and the browser.

  6. Test another publicly accessible video to determine whether the problem affects one page or every page.

  7. Check whether the content is private, protected, account-restricted, or unavailable in your region.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download YouTube videos with the Quetta Chrome extension?

Not currently. The Chrome version can detect compatible video files, HLS/M3U8 streams, and supported live media on other sites, but YouTube downloading is currently limited to Quetta’s supported Windows browser experience and the Firefox or Edge extension.

Do I need to paste the YouTube URL into another website?

No. Quetta detects compatible media from the page open in your browser, so you do not need to submit the URL to a separate converter website.

Can Quetta download every YouTube video?

No downloader can guarantee every video. Availability depends on the source, media delivery method, access controls, account status, browser, region, and current product version. Quetta does not bypass DRM, paywalls, passwords, or private access.

Can I download YouTube audio on Windows?

The Quetta extension for Firefox and Edge can download supported YouTube audio when an audio option is detected. See how to download YouTube audio for format and compatibility details.

Is Quetta for Windows a browser or an extension?

Quetta for Windows is a complete desktop browser with Quetta's own downloader extension integrated as a built-in feature. The separately installed Quetta Video Downloader is for users of other desktop browsers; YouTube downloading there is supported in Firefox and Edge, not Chrome.

Download with the right Windows version

Use Quetta Browser for Windows for the downloader already built in, or install the Quetta extension for Firefox or Edge when using one of those browsers on Windows.
