Download YouTube Videos with Firefox or Edge

Use the Quetta extension to download supported YouTube video or audio in Firefox and Microsoft Edge. Compare browser support, install safely, select media, and fix detection problems.

Download YouTube Videos with Firefox or Edge

Install Quetta Video Downloader from the official Firefox or Microsoft Edge add-on store, pin it to the toolbar, and open a permitted YouTube video. Start playback if needed, wait for Quetta to detect supported media, then choose an available video or audio option from the extension panel.

The browser choice matters. Quetta’s Firefox and Edge extensions currently support compatible YouTube video and audio downloads, while the Chrome extension does not support YouTube. Chrome remains available for compatible media on other supported websites.

Availability still depends on the specific source, media format, access controls, and current extension version. “Supported” does not mean every video on the platform can be downloaded.

Install the extension safely

  1. Open the official Quetta Video Downloader Extension page.

  2. Choose Firefox or Microsoft Edge.

  3. Continue to the official browser add-on store.

  4. Confirm the publisher and review the requested permissions.

  5. Install the extension.

  6. Pin Quetta to the browser toolbar.

Avoid extension download sites that provide an unpacked file, altered package, or a similarly named product. An extension can interact with webpage content, so its installation source and update channel are security-relevant.

Download with Firefox

Firefox users install Quetta through Mozilla’s official add-on channel. After installation:

  1. Add Quetta to the visible toolbar if it is hidden in the extensions menu.

  2. Open a YouTube video you are permitted to save.

  3. Start playback and wait briefly.

  4. Open the Quetta panel when supported media is detected.

  5. Review the detected video or audio choices.

  6. Select an available option and download it through Firefox.

If the icon remains inactive, reload the page after installation. A tab that was open before an extension was installed may need to reload before the extension can inspect it.

Download with Microsoft Edge

Edge users install Quetta through Microsoft Edge Add-ons. Then:

  1. Open Edge’s Extensions menu.

  2. Enable Show in toolbar for Quetta.

  3. Open the permitted YouTube video.

  4. Start playback if the media has not yet been exposed.

  5. Open Quetta and choose from the supported options detected.

  6. Find the completed file through Edge’s download history.

Edge can hide extensions inside its menu even when they are enabled. Pinning Quetta makes it easier to see whether the current page has exposed compatible media.

Three ways Quetta can surface a download

Depending on the page and your settings, Quetta can use:

  • Extension panel: Best for reviewing all detected media, formats, and resolutions.

  • On-video control: A faster action when the page exposes a compatible video element.

  • Right-click action: Useful when you prefer the browser context menu.

These controls lead to the same underlying extension workflow. You do not need to activate all three. If an on-video button is distracting, disable that control and continue using the extension panel.

Why Chrome is different

Browser extension stores and browser capabilities do not apply identical policies and technical requirements. Quetta’s Chrome version can detect compatible MP4, WebM, HLS/M3U8, and supported live-stream media on other websites, but it does not currently support YouTube downloads.

Do not troubleshoot YouTube in Chrome by repeatedly reinstalling the extension. Switch to Firefox or Edge, or use Quetta Browser for Windows or macOS.

Video and audio options are not conversions

Quetta displays compatible media made available by the source. It does not guarantee that every video will provide:

  • MP4

  • WebM

  • 1080p

  • 4K

  • a combined video-and-audio file

  • MP3 audio

An audio stream is not automatically an MP3 file. Check the detected format before downloading and use a compatible local player.

Extension permissions and privacy

A video downloader must inspect relevant webpage and media activity to detect compatible resources. Review the permission description in the official store and grant only what is required for the feature you use.

Quetta does not need permission to bypass passwords, private access, paywalls, or DRM—and it does not provide those capabilities. If an unrelated page asks you to install another tool or submit account credentials, leave that page.

Troubleshooting the extension

The icon stays gray

Start playback, reload the tab, and reopen the extension panel. Confirm that Quetta is allowed to run on the current site. The media may also be protected or unsupported.

No video appears in the panel

Wait until the page and player finish loading. Test another publicly accessible video. If the second page works, the first source likely exposes its media differently.

The extension was installed but does not appear

Open the browser’s Extensions menu and pin or show Quetta in the toolbar. Confirm that it is enabled.

A quality is missing

Quetta can show only the compatible qualities supplied by the source. Playback at a given quality does not always mean the same option is exposed for downloading.

A downloaded video has no audio

Return to the detected choices and look for an option that includes audio. Some sources separate video and audio streams, and not every detected item contains both.

Frequently asked questions

Which Quetta extension should I use for YouTube?

Use the Firefox or Microsoft Edge version. The Chrome extension does not currently support YouTube downloads.

Can the extension download YouTube audio?

Firefox and Edge can download supported audio options detected from YouTube. The output is not necessarily MP3; it depends on the format exposed by the source.

Does Quetta convert YouTube videos?

Quetta detects and downloads compatible media made available to the page. Do not describe an option as a conversion unless the product actually converts the source into a different format.

Why does one YouTube video work and another not?

Videos can differ in access controls, account requirements, media delivery, region, format, or protection. Compatibility with one video does not guarantee compatibility with every video.

Can Quetta download private or DRM-protected videos?

No. Quetta does not bypass private access, passwords, paywalls, DRM, or other technical protections.

Install the right browser version

Choose Firefox or Microsoft Edge on the official Quetta Video Downloader Extension page for supported YouTube video and audio downloads.
