Use Quetta to Download YouTube Video or Audio in Firefox and Edge

Install Quetta for Firefox or Microsoft Edge to download supported YouTube video or audio. Compare browser support, permissions, toolbar setup, and save locations.

Download YouTube Videos with Firefox or Edge

The Quetta extensions for Firefox and Microsoft Edge support compatible YouTube video and audio downloads. The Chrome extension does not support YouTube. Install Quetta through the official browser add-on store, allow it to run on the page, start the video, and open the extension panel when compatible media is detected.

This guide is specifically for people who want to keep using Firefox or Edge. Quetta Browser for Windows and macOS already includes Quetta's downloader, so those users do not need to install this separate extension inside Quetta Browser.

Browser answer: Choose Firefox or Microsoft Edge for supported YouTube video and audio downloads. Do not install the Chrome version for this task.

“Supported when detected” does not mean every video or format is guaranteed. It means the browser version includes the capability and can show compatible media exposed to it.

Install the correct Quetta extension

Begin from the official Quetta Video Downloader Extension page, then select Firefox or Microsoft Edge. Continue to the official browser store rather than downloading an unpacked extension from another website.

  1. Choose the browser you actually use.

  2. Confirm the Quetta publisher on the official store listing.

  3. Review the requested permissions.

  4. Install the extension.

  5. Pin Quetta to the toolbar.

  6. Reload any YouTube tab that was already open before installation.

Choose Quetta for Firefox or Microsoft Edge

Set up Quetta in Firefox

Firefox may keep a newly installed extension inside its Extensions menu until it is pinned. Open the menu, locate Quetta, and pin it when you want its detection state to remain visible.

If Firefox asks whether Quetta may access the current site, review and grant the permission needed for the feature. Mozilla documents how users can review extension permissions in Firefox's Add-ons Manager; permissions can also be managed after installation.

Once setup is complete:

  1. Open the supported YouTube video in Firefox.

  2. Start playback if necessary.

  3. Wait for Quetta to detect compatible media.

  4. Open the Quetta panel.

  5. Choose an available video or audio option.

  6. Save it through Firefox's download system.

Set up Quetta in Microsoft Edge

Edge may also hide extensions inside its Extensions menu. Enable the toolbar display for Quetta so you can see when the current page has exposed supported media.

  1. Install Quetta from Microsoft Edge Add-ons through the official Quetta product page.

  2. Show Quetta in the toolbar.

  3. Open the supported YouTube video.

  4. Start playback and wait for detection.

  5. Open the panel and review the available options.

  6. Download through Edge.

Edge controls the final download location. Microsoft documents both a configured folder and an option to ask where each file should be saved.

Where does the extension save files?

The Quetta extension uses the host browser's download system. It does not create a separate universal Quetta folder for Firefox and Edge.

  • In Firefox, check Firefox's download history and configured download folder.

  • In Edge, check Edge's download history and configured download folder.

  • If the browser is set to ask where to save each file, choose a location before the transfer begins.

  • If no custom location is selected, the browser commonly uses its configured Downloads folder.

This is different from Android, where downloads can also appear inside Quetta's own mobile media interface.

Video and audio options are not the same as conversion

Quetta shows compatible media detected from the page. An audio-only option is not automatically an MP3, and a visible video does not guarantee that MP4, WebM, 1080p, 4K, combined audio, and audio-only versions will all be available.

Check the label shown in the extension panel before downloading. For a deeper explanation of audio formats, use the YouTube audio download guide. For container compatibility, compare MP4 and WebM.

Why the Chrome extension cannot complete this task

Quetta's Chrome extension supports compatible media on other websites, but it does not support YouTube video or audio downloads. Reinstalling the Chrome version, changing site permissions, or repeatedly reloading YouTube will not enable an unsupported capability.

Use one of these routes instead:

  • Install Quetta in Firefox.

  • Install Quetta in Microsoft Edge.

  • Use Quetta Browser for Windows or macOS, where Quetta's downloader is already integrated.

If the extension icon stays inactive

Keep this page focused on extension setup:

  1. Confirm that the host browser is Firefox or Edge.

  2. Reload the tab after installing or updating the extension.

  3. Start playback.

  4. Confirm that Quetta is enabled and allowed to run on the site.

  5. Reopen the extension panel.

Frequently asked questions

Which Quetta extension supports YouTube downloads?

Use the Firefox or Microsoft Edge version. The Quetta Chrome extension does not support YouTube downloads.

Does the extension work on both Windows and Mac?

The separate extension is intended for users who remain in a compatible Firefox or Edge browser. Quetta Browser for Windows and macOS already includes Quetta's downloader and does not require a second installation inside Quetta.

Can Quetta download YouTube audio in Firefox or Edge?

Firefox and Edge can download a supported audio option when one is detected. The resulting format is not necessarily MP3.

Can I choose where the file is saved?

Yes, when the host browser is configured to ask where each file should be saved. Otherwise, the download follows Firefox's or Edge's configured destination, commonly the Downloads folder.

Does Quetta bypass private videos or DRM?

No. Quetta does not bypass DRM, passwords, paywalls, private access, or other technical restrictions.

Stay in your preferred desktop browser

Install the appropriate Quetta extension when Firefox or Edge is already part of your workflow. Choose the browser version first; Chrome is not the route for YouTube downloads.
